Don't let me get me...

"Don't let me get me"! Ever heard that song by Pink??

It’s a harsh look at just how tough we can be towards ourselves sometimes. So often, the core beliefs we have about the person we see in the mirror stop us before we even get started.

Ever played this game before?
I’m not smart enough to do that, I’m not coordinated enough to play that, I’m not athletic, I’m too weak, I’m not strong enough, I’m to sensitive, I’m not talented enough, I’m too fat, too skinny, not pretty enough… and the list goes on and on!
Each of these statements (and then some) have held center court in my brain on more then one occasion and I can’t imagine I’m alone on this.

I understand its human nature to question our ability and to compare, but we should never let it stop us from trying! There’s always going to be someone better or worse… its all relative. Now, what I’m about to tell you may come as a total shock to some of you… “Nobody’s perfect”! Gasp!!! I know… Go ahead and take a second to recover from this revelation! Once you’ve gathered your composure let’s talk about how to turn this thought process around.

It’s so important for you to understand that you are unique! There’s no one else like you! We were all put on this earth with strengths, with weaknesses and with gifts. It’s vital that we are accepting of all that we are. The good, the bad and the sometimes ehh! We each add to the whole and have an important part to play in this world. Don’t let your judgments about yourself stop you from shining!

If you find yourself holding a gavel far too often, remember this one word “Acceptance” Then ask yourself these questions…

- Am I acting out of “self love” or is this an act of “self sabotage”

- Would someone who loves themselves make this choice

- If a friend, child or family member were making this choice what advice would I give them

Love Tokens on Acceptance~

~ I accept all my strength and weaknesses and allow my gifts to shine

~ I understand that confidence is the result of acceptance not perfection

~ I practice self love and acceptance daily

I will end on this note… It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not!

With all my Love ~ Meredith
